Carstens Tönnieshof, Limited Edition
Iconic Mid-Century in Brutalist form
Artisanal Mastery Meets Brutalism – The Iconic Fat Lava Lamp with Ankara Decor
This large floor lamp by Carstens Tönnieshof is a collector's item of German mid-century ceramic art. With its sculptural form and the elaborately wax-technique Ankara decor – designed by Helmut Scholtis – it brings timeless design power into your space. Each lamp is unique and comes with certified electrics and a handmade thread paper shade.
Material & Workmanship
The lamp base consists of artful Fat Lava ceramic with deep textural variations and intensely colored glazes. The rough, artistically embossed surface with glossy highlights is characteristic of German ceramic art of the 1960s and 70s. The handmade shade made of black Japanese thread paper offers an elegant contrast to the robust base and provides soft, translucent room lighting. The lamp is equipped with a 1.5-meter blue fabric cable, a white toggle switch, and a Euro plug – all tested and safety certified.
Dimensions & Variants
Height without socket: 54 cm | Height with socket: 60.5 cm. This model is limited to a few versions: 2 × Black/Blue and 1 × Terracotta/Black. Each lamp comes with a tested connection and an original Roomlight shade.
