KIMAN was founded by Lukas Fehlemann and Jonathan Kipper – two sports-loving founders from Cologne who, while studying sports, began to explore the question of why functional sportswear often ends up in the trash after use. With the goal of creating a truly circular solution for the sports textile industry, they developed recyclable performancewear made from recycled polyester and bio-based materials. Their clothing combines functionality with sustainability – it is fully recyclable and can be returned free of charge via a digital take-back system. KIMAN relies on fair production in Europe and pursues the vision of not only making its own brand circular, but also making its system accessible to other labels in the long term.

KIMAN garments are manufactured in Europe in collaboration with NIL Textile. The PLA yarns are sourced in Germany, and fabric production and assembly take place in the Czech Republic. Production adheres to certified sustainability and social standards, with particular attention paid to transparent supply chains and short transport routes. Recycling takes place mechanically or molecularly in Spain, the Netherlands, or Italy—thus enabling a true circular economy without loss of quality.

KIMAN uses bio-based and recycled materials specifically developed for circularity. These include NILPLA®, a corn-based plastic, and NILPET®, a high-quality recycled polyester derived from textile waste and GRS-certified sources in Spain. Both materials are fully recyclable, durable, and ideal for athletic use. Through this targeted material selection, KIMAN lays the foundation for consistently circular product design.

Shipping at KIMAN usually takes 3–4 business days and is free for orders over €50. Shipping is climate-neutral with DHL GoGreen in recycled and plastic-free packaging. Returns are generally possible – they cost €4.95 and do not apply to heavily worn or damaged items. Returned clothing is inspected by KIMAN and, depending on its condition, either recycled, resold, or reused in the second-hand channel.
