Oak End-Grain Cutting Board – Robust, Antibacterial, and Durable
Your new cutting board comes from the Black Forest and is more than just a kitchen surface. It is made from oak end-grain – meaning the surfaces are cut across the grain. This creates a board that is gentle on your knives and at the same time extremely robust. You can chop and cut vigorously without damaging the material.
Material & Craftsmanship
The board is made from solid oak wood – specifically from cut-offs of other furniture, ensuring no precious raw material is wasted. The surface is finely sanded and treated with food-safe wood oil, which protects the board and makes it more durable. The acid naturally present in the wood has an antibacterial effect – which is why traditionally, simply wiping the board with a damp cloth is sufficient. With a thickness of 4 cm, you can sand and re-oil the board later if you no longer like the signs of wear.
Dimensions & Weight
The board measures 41 cm in length, 28 cm in width, and is 4 cm thick – a generous size for vegetables, meat, and bread. As it is a natural product, the wood grain will always vary slightly – each board is unique.
