Walter Brecht Pair of Vase Lamps with Japanese Crane Shades – 1970s WGP
1970s West German Pottery, carefully converted
Rare pair of lamps from 1970s studio ceramics
Two Vase Lamps from West German Pottery – 1970s Design Classics
A rare, matching pair of lamps by Walter Brecht: Original ceramic vases that have been converted into functional table lamps. The vases show the characteristic form and color aesthetics of West German Pottery with an architectural silhouette, a side handle, and a distinctive shoulder. The color gradient from deep navy blue in the upper area to vibrant, textured red in the body is typical of the high-quality glazing technique of this period.
Material & Craftsmanship
Both vases were carefully converted into table lamps without damaging the ceramic or drilling holes. The collector's value is fully preserved. The custom-made lampshades are covered with high-quality, deep blue fabric featuring an elegant Japanese crane motif. A vibrant red border deliberately creates a contrast and echoes the vase colors – a graphically strong, harmonious overall impression with a Japanese-inspired aesthetic. Both lamps are wired and ready for immediate use.
Dimensions & Fit
Large lamp: approx. 56 cm high | Small lamp: approx. 50 cm high | Vases: approx. 14 cm wide, 7 cm deep each | Lampshades: approx. 25 cm diameter each. The set looks ideal on a sideboard or console, but each lamp can also be used effectively individually.
