This extraordinary table lamp combines an expressively glazed ceramic vase with a large Japanese cotton lampshade. The lamp is a unique piece, blending Fat Lava, Asian-inspired ornamentation, and sculptural object art – boasting an exceptional presence day and night.
Material & Craftsmanship
The base is a brutalist ceramic vase from experimental studio ceramics of the 1960s/70s. The heavily structured lava glaze features intense red, copper, and dark lava nuances, reminiscent of cooled rock or organic tree bark. Four ring-shaped handles give the vase its distinctive character. The high-quality Japanese cotton fabric displays traditional dragon and cloud motifs in various shades of red and gold. When lit, the fabric creates a warm, very atmospheric light. The vase has been converted into a lamp and fitted with a black E27 socket – the visible cable emphasizes the raw, studio ceramic character of the object.

Total height: 60 cm | Vase: 30 cm high | Lampshade: 30 × 30 cm. The lamp features a classic E27 socket and can be operated with standard LED bulbs. The large shade is particularly well-suited as an atmospheric table or sideboard lamp.
